Wow! so we thought 2017 was a busy year for PCL but things just keep on happening and growing and 2018 is looking to be an excellent year for our community. Our new homes and programs are now all up and operational and although transition is difficult and there are still tweaks to be made everyone seems to be settling in to their new homes.
I am also very excited to announce that PCL was nominated by Jennifer Allan to receive an award for leadership from the Provincial Developmental Services Human Resources Strategy. Based on Jen’s submission and the fantastic work we do here at PCL around the Core Competencies and professionalizing the sector, I am happy to announce that we won this award and will receive it at the annual conference on February 6/18
We have also been nominated for TWO awards through the Chamber of Commerce, one for business excellence and one for our focus on a healthy workplace. We are honoured to be nominated amoung other great agencies and we will find out on February 22nd if the the 2018 winning streak continues.
The wellness committee is working hard to ensure that we have a great line up of events, speakers, education and challenges to promote a healthy work environment in the coming months. Our annual fitness challenge will begin in February with an “EXTREME MAKEOVER” twist, including a beginning focus on good nutrition. It is always exciting to plan and prepare for these fun activities.
Our Core Competency Committee is also working on this years annual challenge – GAME OF HOMES SEASON 2 – PASSPORT TO COMPETENCY. We are very excited to role this out over the summer months to all of our teams to motivate and encourage each other to be the best we can be.
