I want to send out a big thank you to all of the PCL employees who took the time to complete the 2014 satisfaction survey, your input and feedback is much appreciated. PCL is committed to listening and responding to our employees as in the end they are very important to the operations of PCL and the providers of care and support to all individuals served by PCL. Based on the results of the surveys PCL is doing an excellent job in several areas. 59 employees of approximately 100 took the time to fill out the survey and over all everyone feels that their job is satisfying and stimulating and many of you have searched out further opportunities within PCL such as working in several homes. It is also good feedback to get that an overwhelming majority of PCL employees feel comfortable approaching their supervisor with any concerns. Some of the comments provided by staff are as follows:
“It has been my experience that PCL does its utmost to create staff satisfaction, health and well being.” “PCL is a good employer” “PCL is an excellent organization to work for that continuously informs staff of any changes and any important information that staff should be aware of.” Its (PCL) family oriented basis and attitude is comforting to the clients and staff as well” Senior Management and Senior Support Providers are very approachable and do their best to make the organization run smoothly” “i appreciate management helping me to find other opportunities within other homes” “i love my job! PCL is an amazing organization that is an absolute pleasure to work for!” and one more “I love my career here at PCL. Please do not change the core missions and beliefs, the quality of care we provide is directly reflective of the recognition we as staff receive from management and individual’s families”
Of course, there are always areas for improvement and some of these include improving our benefits and offering them to a larger number of employees. In a couple of homes that have an increase in hours over the summer we need to work on a more consistent way to offer hours to ensure that it is fair for all. I am sure that this will be addressed in a timely and fair manner and over all some staff would like to have more regular contracted hours. PCL does try to offer these position when we are able but often times we are dependent on the funding from the Ministry and some of this is temporary or on a fiscal year basis only. This makes permanent positions difficult to offer, however as we grow as an organization, there will be more permanent and full time positions. So keep your eyes on the postings that are sent out regularly . As well, we try and communicate what is going on at PCL in various ways, staff meetings, memos , the newsletters and the website. Make sure you checking the website and Facebook pages regularly to keep up to date with happenings and training. We have provided computers in every home, which will enable all staff to have the opportunity to see regularly check out the PCL website.
Again, i thank the staff who took the time to provide feedback, and we thank you for your positive comments, dedication and support. Rest assured that we are definitely listening to your comments and will ensure that we address each area of concern.
