Well, it has been a while since I’ve put some news up here but we have been going through some website server changes and I needed to wait until things were complete. Today is the Annual Golf Tournament for PCL and this year looks to be a great year, we have many sponsors and prize donations that are going to make this an excellent tournament and we are also very pleased by the number of golfers that are coming out today. Looks like the weather is also cooperating so I really hope that my swing can live up to the day!We have been very busy through the months of May and June getting all of our summer and fundraising plans in place. I am very happy to report that our Ham and Strawberry supper went off without a hitch and we raised over $2000.00 to help with the repairs and maintenance of the Forestlawn Pool. Please see our events page for all the information and thank yous to everyone who help make this event so successful.
As well, a big thank you to Betty M. who used her 80th birthday celebration to gather some donations for PCL as well. Her friends and family were very generous and with the dollars raised from this party we will be able to purchase and install some lift and safety equipment for our Monarch home. A truly generous thing for Betty to do. Thank you Betty!
Another very exciting event that was held on June 10th was the 40th Birthday party for Deb B. Her family put on a fantastic surprise party for her at the Mooselodge and it was so great to see how surprised, excited and grateful she was to have many of her friends and family out to support. Her family was also gathering donations at this event to help us replace the front door at the Forestlawn home.
The ladies of the Forestlawn home participated in the KidsAbility Superheros walk to raise money for KidsAbility and we finally got our new wheelchair accessible van for the Crimson home. This vehicle is so much easier for the staff to assist the ladies who use wheelchairs that they will now be able to attend and go to so many more activiites because of the ease of transport. This will increase their quality of life and help to lessen the physical strain for the staff who work there. We hope to have some pictures up on Facebook soon for everyone to see.
Our staff have also been involved in several training over the past two months. Increasing education and skills to enhance the quality of supports. The first of June marked our Core Competency Game of Homes Challenge where each home must complete ten challenges based on the Core Competencies. I am very excited to announce that that Monarch Staff team is the first team to finish all the challenges with many other homes right behind them. Every team that finishes all 10 challenges will win a Pizza Party at their fall staff team meetings.
Exciting events continue for July as we will be holding our Tribute Singers Fundraiser on July 9, 2016 at the Mooselodge. If you are interested in tickets please call Brenda or Anna at the main office. This should prove to be an excellent event with some amazing Tribute singers including one of our very own staff team members. Tickets are only 10 dollars if purchased in advance and the event starts at 7:30 pm.
