It has been a busy time here at PCL over the past few weeks. The Blueridge, Westheights and Pastern Trail gang partnered up for an awesome Superbowl party at the end of January and again in February to celebrate the 50th birthday of Paul B. at a “man only” party. I heard that the ribs were delicious. The exercise program in partnership with the Core Sports and Fitness Complex continues to be a huge success, both the staff and individuals supported have been enjoying this and really feeling good about participating.
Currently we are running a Core Competency challenge for all PCL staff, make sure you check out your houses for the flyer or ask your SSP about it. We are accepting submissions of your stories right up until the end of March. You can win a blackberry tablet if your story is chosen by the Core Competency Committee Members. Good luck to everyone who submits.
I have also heard that the house and staff fitness challenge might be in the works again this year, thanks to some dedicated staff so keep your eyes open for more information to follow.
25 staff from PCL are participating in Conscious Care and Support Training for 8 weeks, learning to be more mindful and aware of the way we interact and support individuals. We are also learning a lot about ourselves which will definitely mean improved supports to those in care.
Don’t forget the PCL Bowlathon fundraiser is coming up in April. Get your teams together and gather up those pledges. This is always an excellent day, lots of good fun and good food with good friends.
