Many employees at PCL make a difference every day in the lives of the people we support. We want to recognize those team members that go above and beyond to make individuals lives inclusive, supported and involved in their community. In order to do this, we have asked employees to share a short story of one of their co-workers showing initiative, advocacy, fostering independence, resilience and/ or collaborating with others in order to make a difference in the life of someone they support. The winning story submission will be transformed into a cartoon comic strip and created poster size to show and share the story around the agency and beyond. We will also be putting the winning submission on our website and in our newsletter so that everyone can read about the awesome staff of PCL. Stories must be submitted by March 31, 2015 and there will be prizes for both the nominator and nominated. So please share your stories and have some fun. Be a PCL SUPERHERO! For more information please see the poster in the home where you work.
And some more exciting happenings:
Its a very exciting week here at PCL as we get ready for our first event at the Centre in the Square in partnership with Magnusmode Ltd. 20 individuals and their support staff or family member will be attending Shaping Sound this Friday night and having their first practice session using Magnus Cards, to pick up their tickets, find their seat and perhaps purchase a beverage from the concession stand. It promises to be a very fun and exciting event.
We are also planning our annual PCL Bowlathon for April 18, 2015. Watch for the posters and ways to play!
The construction work at the home on Forest Lawn in Waterloo continues and will hopefully be ready for the ladies to move at the end of February or the first of March, making way for the transition of the Casey home into a children’s program. With all that going on you know that that it is very busy both at the office and in the homes.
The Core Lifestyle and Recreation Complex has been awesome in assisting us to get our day program up and running and all of the feedback from both staff and people supported has been positive. A quote from a support staff “Core is the best thing to happen to Michele”
