Please enjoy the submission of the Westheights staff team for their co-worker Julio R. in the PCL Superhero Contest
There once was a little man name Julio, who was ordinary as could be, but destined to do extraordinary deeds. One day while sitting in front of his house, an owl appeared to him and sent him on a quest. His quest was to accomplish seven deeds which would enhance and empower the lives of four men. As the owl departed, Julio heard these words “True heroism is remarkably sober, very un-dramatic, it is not the urge to surpass all other at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost” (Arthur Ashe). At first he had difficulties bonding with the men, however he was willing to work hard, and take proactive action. By doing so, over time he build strong relationships with each of them. He implemented and organized a camping adventure for the men, collaborating with others as a means to advocate for them. Realizing that he had little time left to complete his task, he decided to foster independence in the men. He developed guidelines for them to follow, reminded them of the life skills he had helped them master, such as proper table manners and respect for themselves and others. He created daily routines, thinking out of the box, for one the men. Like other heroes he had moments of great struggle. However, he was resilient and her persevered through each deed and although he was little, his heart was big enough to help him accomplish his quest.
