There is always a lot going on at PCL and over the past few weeks we have been very busy preparing for several special events. We held a training day for 40 staff on June 3rd where they learned skills and information about Abuse Prevention, Violence in the Workplace and Documentation. All very important skills to have to know how to respond to exceptional situation.
The Blueridge team have been working away preparing for the Garage sale being held this Saturday June 7th at 48 Blueridge Avenue in Kitchener. Dollars raised from this sale support our fundraising initiatives and provide some extra funds in particular towards some projects for the Blueridge home.
We want to send out a HUGE thank you to Chantal F. and Donna G. from Pastern Trail for organizing, motivating and keeping us on track with PCL fitness challenge. And thank you to all those who participated.

Winning House: BLUERIDGE with 1047 points! Special mention to Pastern house for an outstanding total of 945 points and to Casey house for an amazing 931 points!!!
Winning Supported Individual: Brennan Hutton from Pastern!! He had an amazing 406 points!!!! Great 2nd place finish by Doug Currie from Pastern with 285 points and Kathy Keating from Casey with 242 points!!! Way to go!
Winning Staff: Dianne from Westheights!!!!!!! She totally won challenge after challenge and finished with 441 points!!! Ashley Jones from Westheights came in a close 2nd with 392 points and Brenda with 271 points was in 3rd for staff!
We will be celebrating the Decade birthdays of five individuals we support on Tuesday June 10th . Happy Decade Birthdays go out to Michele M., Paul B., Matthew C., Doug C. and Janet W.
Today we are supporting our community partners and golfing at the K-W Habilitation golf tournament. They will be reciprocating this support and coming out to our tournament on June 19th. Working in collaboration iwht other community agencies strengthens and improves the supports and services we provide.
Currently our homes are engaged in a Core Competency challenge called MISSION POSSIBLE, where staff and individuals supported are working together to create a poster showcasing a particular competency. We will then take all these posters and create a 2015 PCL Calendar in honour of our 25th year anniversary. We are really looking forward to seeing the creativity of our staff and supported individuals.
As well, to celebrate our 25 years in business this years annual family picnic will be a special celebration and tons of work is going to to planning this special event to be held on August 19th.
